Recent Works on Paper in 2009

From 2003 through 2008, I became ill and was unable to paint. In the spring of 2009, I picked up my brushes for the first time in six years and began working again. The new series are still calligraphic in scope, but the work has changed to what I call Calligraphicscapes with small worlds containing seas, oceans, skies, mountains, hills, rocks etc. The forms have become more organic in recent works on paper where I am creating small worlds, topographical in nature. These new works remind me of a series of oil paintings I did in the 70s that were influenced by flights looking at the earth below.
